Galangal Root, a traditional Chinese medicine name. Dried rhizomes of Alpinia officinalis Hance, a plant in the ginger family. Harvesting in late summer and early autumn, removing fibrous roots and residual scales, washing, cutting into sections, and drying in the sun. This product is cylindrical in shape, with many bends and branches. It is 5-9cm long and 1-1.5cm in diameter. The surface is brownish red to dark brown, with fine longitudinal wrinkles and gray brown wavy segments. The internodes are 0.2-1cm long, and one side has circular root scars. Durable in texture, not easily broken, with a gray brown or reddish brown cross-section, fibrous, and a central column accounting for about 1/3. It has a fragrant aroma and a spicy taste.
